Toady Boogie
(that's what it's all about-)
by SUSAN R. MORRITT
An ignoramus army patrols the world.
Every nook and cranny, infiltrated,
saturated with moulting scabs
of mange-bred fodder. Feeding the fire,
the scum coated, self-bloated as they toady
to their lord and master, the bully-boy
bastardized creator of petulant ire.
Go ahead–butt in line.
Strike from behind. Kick them
when they’re down.
I’ll be around when the dawn breaks
like a limb snapped with the whoosh
of a billy club’s swing.
In the frozen silence of this ever-shrinking sphere,
who dares to peer into the careless gaze
of indifferent tomorrow?
